An Evening in Downtown Savannah, Part II

After our last trip downtown with the kids we decided to try it again, I know, usually trying to repeat the same good thing doesn’t turn out as well as the last time you did it. We went a little earlier this time and also made plans to meet our neighbors, Bruce and Lonnie, at Mellow Mushroom. While we were killing time before they got there we walked down Broughton Street and hit a few stores and I thought I would buy a belt. I wasn’t wearing one and I’d apparently lost a pound or two so the pants I was wearing were not staying up too well. We went to Ellis Square again but the fountains weren’t running which Kellie wasn’t very happy about, so we went down to River Street and bummed around a bit longer before Bruce and Lonnie caught up to us. After a few more stores we decided to head back towards Mellow Mushroom before it started to get busy.

We had intended on showing Bruce and Lonnie how good the pizza was there, and it was very good they said, but unfortunately the experience was not. Our waitress was either on her first night there or she won’t be around very long because it was probably one of the top 10 worst services I’ve ever experienced. There was also a constant BANGING of some guy building something right in the middle of the restaurant for about 20 solid minutes. I guess someone decided that 5:00 on a Saturday night was a good time to hammer inside of a restaurant and I’m not sure what it was he was nailing but it will NOT be coming undone anytime soon. I did try something new there this time, the Jerk Chicken sandwich, and it did not disappoint.

The rest of the evening was pretty uneventful other than we did visit Leopold’s, best ice cream in Savannah, and it was SCAD Fashion night so there was quite a bit of stir with lots of people dressed up coming to the theater next door. Enjoy a few more photos of our evening.

You’ve got some wonderful photos here! Makes clear that I need to get my rump off my couch and head downtown for some pics! The girls are adorable, but I especially like the night shots (the one of the bridge is especially nice).

Thank you, yes there is a LOT to shoot downtown, we’ve had a lot of fun the last few weeks. I love shooting at night too, definitely need to start bringing a tripod.
