Savannah Saint Patrick’s Day Parade

So by now I’m sure most of you know we have this little celebration every March 17th in Savannah, Ga, called St Patrick’s Day. It’s only the 2nd largest parade in the US, but definitely the largest party afterward. It was on a Tuesday this year and the girls were out of school so we headed downtown with our neighbor Lonnie. We got there about 8:00 and headed to a Starbucks for a little warm up/wake up juice and get the kids a little bite to eat. It was still a little cool out and I had opted for shorts opting to deal with the cool for a little while in hopes of making it up on the back side with the predicted nice weather so getting inside out of the windy gray chill was good.

We knew of several friends and family that would be there in different spots but I wanted to try and get down to Bay St first where my mom has gone for 20+ years first since I knew where that was. Several of us all got there within 20 minutes of each other but by the time the parade came it was so busy we couldn’t get out of there to cross the street hardly so we decided to stay put. Jeremiah’s friends from Tennessee, Tony, Rona and Chris, were still here and met up with us too, you’ll see Jeremiah in the video with a goat encounter of the third kind. At one point I did walk over to Broughton St to get some camera footage there and see if I could find some of our friends, Stephanie and Ken. You’ll see a lot of the craziness that is St Patrick’s day in the video so it’s hard to describe, the pictures and video just don’t do it justice though. The kids started wearing down about 1:00 and we had to take Kellie to a dr appointment at 3:00 so since we had kids there was no partying for us. We still had a great time though and I’d like to go back next year and try a different spot that I’ve not been to before.
