Well, it’s all over. I’m sitting here writing at the same car care center getting my car serviced, it was Kriss’ car last time. Ha, I just realized that I pointed out it was ironic that the Service light always comes on before a road trip, and this time it happened to both of our cars the same week, JUST to make sure… Read more

What an awesome trip we had this year, I think our best family trip yet. The large family ones seem to be improving each year, probably due to us knowing more how to handle things and the kids getting older. This year we really slowed things down, partly due to finances and several kids only having a few or no days left on their tickets so we only planned one big commando park day. Read more

Erin has finished her first full year of gymnastics now and we recently got to go see her end of year exhibition. I took some video and hope to have some on here soon. If there is such thing as tripping over your own smile I think that would be her, she really likes having an activity of her own being the middle sister.

Alyssa seems to be hitting new milestones more often. She’s outgrown a lot of the “kid” things and is liking spending more time by herself in her room even. She’s also starting to wander into the world of spicy foods which is huge for someone that doesn’t eat mustard or ketchup on a burger or would even try anything Kriss or I tried to get her to eat. She and I tear up hot wings regularly now at Hooters and she’ll even add extra hot sauce to her ranch to dip in. Most nights at the supper table it’s a race to the fridge to see who’ll get the hot sauce or spicy BBQ sauce for whatever we’re eating that night.

Marc was recently in a play at school, The Princess and the Pea, he may turn out to be the actor in the family. I have a copy of it on my iPod and we are supposed to have a few dvd copies in the near future so stay tuned for that. It’s too long for YouTube so in order to get it on the site I’ll have to find another way. But he was the lead character, the Prince, and spent many weeks rehearsing leading up to it.

He’s sure grown up a lot, I never would have guessed he would have wanted to be in a play but he says he liked it a lot. I’ve had to skip a few weekends seeing him lately due to the play and now baseball but he’ll be here for a month soon so I’m looking forward to spending time with him and all of the kids, I’m sure there is a lot of pool time coming.

It’s finally here, school got out yesterday and we are knee deep in Memorial Day weekend. It’s early Saturday morning and I’m sitting in a waiting room at a car care center getting the oil changed in our family car before we leave for Disney on Sunday. I don’t know why it seems that dang light always comes on that its due for an oil change the week before you’re supposed to take off on a trip, but since we’re pulling a trailer I thought it best to do it now. The kids are all excited so I hope we are able to stay focused today to be able to get done everything we need to so we can just wake up Sunday and roll out.

There are still a lot of details to get worked out on the new site here so you aren’t going to find everything you possibly came here for right now. I’m going to try and have most of the old content (the useful stuff at least) back before we leave for Disney but there are some issues on the Kids pages right now so there may only be one on here that I’m using for testing until I get it all worked out. Being able to write blogs for the kids is the biggest reason I made this switch so until I get that straight there isn’t a lot of point going further. I wish I had all the pictures and stories I’ve posted about them online in the last five years and this will make that possible.

Kellie has got to be the most polite of all of the kids and she’s the youngest, it’s seldom she doesn’t say “please,” “thank you,” or “yes ma’am.” Every day now when I come home, even if I’ve just left to run to the store, she comes running for me screaming “DADDY” and hugs me tight. She did recenty get hold of a pair of scissors though and decided to give herself a little “trim” but fortunately it wasn’t bad. I can’t wait until it gets warmer and we can all get to the pool, I think this is the year she proves to be the water bug I know she is (like her dad) and all of the kids love to go to the pool so it’s a blast.

I know my family understands all of this but I get a lot of visitors from other sites, especially people looking for information on Walt Disney World, and you may be wondering about the Disney trips and who gets to go. We have four kids total, Alyssa and Erin are Kriss’ girls and they live with us and go visit their dad every other weekend plus different holidays. Marc Jr is my son and he lives with his mom 300 miles away in the opposite direction from Disney, and comes to visit every other weekend, different holidays, and a month in the summer. Then there is Kellie which is ours together. So most of the time we have three kids, every other weekend we have four kids, and the opposite weekend we have one.

We’ve learned lots of things about Disney over the years and we try to do our best to minimize cost in our trips but the money and logistics it would take to get the six of us there and back for a quick weekend trip is prohibitive. So on the weekends that we only have one child is when these “Last Minute Trips” come up. They are usually short notice so there is little planning in advance, and between using our DVC membership or annual passes for discounts on a room, the trips usually cost little more than gas and food. Then on the family trip where we stay all week we do a lot more “big kid” stuff since Kellie gets to go more often and do the stuff she likes that would bore the mind out of the other three.

So I hope you understand that what looks on the surface like an unfair situation really is the best way we think to handle it with our Brady Bunch meets the Osbournes family situation.

Don’t be alarmed, yes you’re in the right place, Bigbie.net is just undergoing a makeover. I hope to be able to start arranging the new site asap so check back soon!
